Lady in Red
Sales of nail polish took off in the forties.
Credit goes to Rita Hayworth, whose long, oval red nails were widely emulated—at least by non-Rosie the Riveter types.

[...] Summer’s new nails—they may just be the ultimate solution for beachproof fingers and toes—are available at Dashing Diva and OPI salons across the country. But take it from me: The removal process—think soaking your nails in acetone and then wrapping them in tinfoil for ten minutes—is best left to a professional.

GLYCERIN : DEEPLY HYDRATES
This humectant is an excellent natural hydrator.
PROTEINS : PLUMP UP THE ROOTS
Oat, wheat and rice proteins are commonly used in shampoos and conditioners to add volume and thickness.
SURFACTANTS : REMOVE EXCESS OIL
Surfactants allow for oil to be washed away from the hair and scalp, but they can possibly dehydrate them as well.
SILICON : ADDS SHINE
In addition to inducing shine, silicone also smoothes the hair so it doesn’t look as frizzy and unmanageable.
PANTHENOL : SMOOTHES, STRENGTHENS AND RESTORES WEAK HAIR
A derivative of vitamin B, panthenol moisturizes the strands to thicken them so that hair appears fuller. Since it hydrates dry hair, it also helps to diminish the appearance of split ends.
POLYMERS : ADD VOLUME AND THICKNESS
Polymers give substance to the surface of the hair, which in turn causes it to look and feel thicker and more voluminous.
DIMETHICONE : COATS THE HAIR SHAFT, LEAVING IT SOFT, SHINY AND MANAGEABLE
There are a variety of different types of silicone-derived dimethicones-almost all are emollient-rich and leave hair feeling silky and soft.![]()

How to minimise static and frizz when you fly Before getting on a plane leave hair slightly damp with a leave in styling product/conditioner. This will help condition hair and retain much-needed moisture lost from an airplane’s dry, stale air. A light leave-in conditioner will leave your air-dried hair feeling soft and manageable without weighing it down.
Choosing your summer colour
For brunettes, paint on rich brown and caramel shades of colour for a fresh look; for blondes it’s all about soft beige and honey tones. And of course, always keep your hair healthy with quality shampoos and conditioners. Follow with light styling products that aren’t stiff or sticky and won’t dry hair out.

The best way to apply coconut oil to your hair is immediately after a shower or bath, when the hair is still wet. It should not still be dripping wet, but more than slightly damp.
It doesn’t matter whether the coconut oil is liquid or solid (pure coconut oil solidifies at less than 76 degrees F, but it’s still perfectly good).
Take a small amount (about a half teaspoon for long hair, less for shorter hair) and put it in your palm. Rub your hands together and begin the application at the ends of your wet hair, using your oily fingers to distribute it evenly and lightly.
The trick is to use just enough so that the oil will penetrate the hair, without leaving an oily or greasy look. Use more at the ends, less in the middle and very little, if any at the roots. Don’t use any oil near the roots if you want to avoid the greasy look.
Although the molecular structure of coconut oil is perfect for penetrating inside the hair shaft, and works beautifully with the natural hair proteins, its still easy to go overboard with the application, and end up with oily hair. If you’ve applied enough to make the hair look oily, the only way to remove it is to re-wash the hair. [...]

Shedding is never fun, just ask my vacuum cleaner. It’s even less fun when you realize the golf ball size bits of hair you’re tugging out of the roller came from your own head. Oh, the horror! As we get older (yes ladies, this is for you too) our once glorious crown of healthy hair can become brittle or even worse, be genetically predisposed to jump ship, leaving our poor, bald heads to fend for themselves.
Below are a few secrets from Mother Nature, some preventative, and some for after the mutiny has begun.

Diet
You are what you eat - and that’s true for your hair as well. A diet containing mostly whole foods, especially the skin of plants such as cucumbers, potatoes, peppers, and even bean sprouts are rich in the mineral silica and contribute to hair strength. Foods like lean meats are high in iron and are essential to the protein-based, building blocks of hair growth.
